Q: How does Tigard Jr. Baseball form teams?

A:

Players will be selected to play on Senior Federal, Senior American or Sr. National teams.  Teams will be organized based upon the number of players participating in tryouts and the availability of coaches. Senior Federal teams play on 90-foot base path baseball diamonds and Senior American/National teams play on 80-foot base path diamonds. Teams typically have 12 or 13 players per team. Participation in tryouts does not guarantee a spot on a team. Every effort will be made to provide playing opportunities for players participating in tryouts.

Tryouts will include sessions of hitting, throwing, fielding, running, pitching and playing catch. Players will be evaluated on their skill level demonstrated at tryouts and based upon previous baseball experience. A panel of current and past Junior Baseball coaches will observe tryouts and make team selections.
